Mis queridos amigos y compañeros cantantes del coro de voz 🎵🎶
What a splendid night doon the Meth Haaall last night. Who could have predicted the eclectic mix of music which was about to unfurl in front of us.
To start with the lovely Fiona had us doing all sorts of novel physical and vocal exercises - it was great to see the likes of Barry, George, and the returning Gwyn, balancing on one leg while waving their arms in the air - just unfortunate we couldn’t capture it all on video………😂. Those gentlemen put the rest of us to shame with their enthusiastic gyrations!!!
A very decent turnout of 25 were present - I have to say the olive grower in Greece, the jumper knitter in FairIsle and the folk singer singing somewhere in the wastelands of southern England missed a good night. We started with Drovers Days - once Fiona had told the very noisy Bari’s and Bass’s to pipe down a bit 🤫 (let’s put it down to their youthful exuberance 😃) - it allowed the very talented but overly quiet Tunes to strut their stuff 🎵- and, once sorted, a very pleasant sound resulted!! However, note to self and other Tunes for next week: a few strength exercises followed by a diet of Weetabix, raw meat and Guinness is required if we’re gonna hold our own with those noisy T’s, B’s and B’s!!!
The educational theme continued with a bit of classic Dona Nobis (???) the words of which (Dona no bis pa cem) were kindly translated by Gwyn - and then it was on to Take me dancing 🕺🏻 by Mr Dizraeli (who was it said we were too old for a bit of rap???) - Take me dancing comes from an album called Engurland City Shanties. A song in Latin and a dose of rap syncopation all in the same night - wow 🤩.
But then on to the piece de resistance - Now is the Cool of the Day. What a lovely song - and with a few tips from Fiona we made a decent fist of this ready for Jon’s return from the southern badlands next week. Fiona’s VoiceMale transformation was complete - will Jon recognise us?? 10 out of 10 for Fiona - what a task to take on all us old giffers - she said she enjoyed it but I suspect not half as much as we did - well done and thank you for stepping in Fiona.
So on to next week when we’ll be the “headline” act on Koast Radio FM 106.6 @ 10am on Tuesday. Being an Eshington based local radio station I’m not sure whether anyone north of Morpeth or south of Wideopen will be able to pick it up - although if you’re able to work it out you might find it on DAB!!! Is being on the radio a first for VoiceMale?? Who knows what this might lead to - Britains got Talent, A Star is born?????….the world is our oyster 🦪🤣! Dave M will keep us right on that one - and just remember Radio killed the Video Star - or was it the other way round??
See you all next Wednesday when Jon will return from his latest missionary venture south of the Tyne. Have a lovely weekend and remember to be kind to each other and especially to your loved ones.
Onwards and upwards VoiceMale 🥰🎶🎵👍🏽🦸🏼♂️🦸🏽♂️🤪. See you all next week!!!!
