Martin Merriman - secretary, in the Chairman's absence

Yes, our chairman Chris is flying a neutral flag as he enters Icelandic Waters, ably supported by Rick on what we hope will be a safe, volcano/glacier/iceberg free trip. Might even bring back some Bjork songs??
Well, despite their absences and a smattering of others we fielded 28 members plus Jon. Knees in abundance, some disgustingly brown, and, and shock horror, some shoes were even sock free. Spring has well & truly sprung. 5 basses, - welcome back Will, 8 baris, welcome new prospective member David Willoughby and Jim, sporting his new knee. 4x £10'ors 10 Tunes, good to see you back Peter & Joe (our Norfolk immigrant).
Prior to the rehearsal some of us committee members had a meeting to look for ways to help Jon address the problem of him having to juggle his gigs with VM commitments, we accept there will inevitably be clashes over the future. John S had, in advance produced an extremely impressive live calendar to improve our planning and visibility and we were also able to discuss Jon's "voids", if you'll pardon the phrase. Jon has in fact got some ideas up his sleev and was able to come up with a substitute for next week.
We spent exactly 59 minutes & 10 seconds literally fine-tuning "Cool of the Day" to great effect and we should now be pretty well stage-ready. Half time & Alan gave us an update on the Bergdorf trip - email to follow, & David reported the resounding success of the Oaken/Brewery/Restaurant trip several of us enjoyed, yes please, more please. Jez confirmed details for the Koast Radio gig, Mike R volunteering to join the tunes to even up the numbers.
As the sun set through Anthony's stain glass windows we progressed onto Fields of Gold - farmers are now grumbling that if the drought progresses singing about them will be all we will be able to do. Once we get the words/verses/refrain sorted, we will be impressive - anyone like to take that one on?Finally, onto a rousing rendition of Droving Days which set us all up for a pint or two in the Tap & Spile, dampened only by Margo seemingly calling time @ 10.15!
