Mes chers messieurs et collègues chanteurs
‘Twas a misty morn up in old Coquetdale
I was thinking about last nights singing and ale
We started with a song led by David Malone
He showed us the actions while he perched on his throne
It left us bewildered that was plain to see
Maybe he had seen it on the TV
Or was it Joyce Grenfell or maybe Bonzo dog
The words and the actions left us agog
Cross your arms and put your left foot in
Or was it touch your chest, we were left in a spin
Confusion and laughter were the order of the day
It was then left to Jon to start our soirée
We had a good turnout, it was great to see
Best of the term, at twenty three
With big Joe back from his trip to Norfolk and Jersey
Was he starring in Bergeracs new series on TV??
Jon was recruiting extras for his video
If you want to be a film star you’ll just have to go
Looks like chaos with no promise of order
It’s the 10th October, it’s your chance as a performer!!!
Ok, that’s enough of all that verse - if I keep going it’ll just get worse - and I haven’t got the time to make it all rhyme so I’ll revert to normal text and no none will get vexed.
In summary it was a lovely night of harmony including the first run out of April Morning, one of two songs we’ll be singing in November with our chums from Dark Sky Voices.
As a reminder the remaining gigs this year, as it stands, are:
Sunday 24 November at Hexham West End Methodist Church with Dark Sky Voices (meet at 1.30pm)
Sunday 1st December in Sanderson Centre, Morpeth (1pm?)
Tuesday 3rd December Blyth Christmas Tree Event (7pm?)
Thursday 12th December Wylam with Dark Sky Voices (8pm?)
Friday 20th December at Warkworth with Wercas Folk (7.30pm?).
Also we’ve got our first two gigs for next year booked - and they’re both pretty prestigious so put ‘em in your diary now!!
Saturday or Sunday 30th or 31st August at Folk Off in Alnwick (day TBC)
Sunday 7th September BAAFest in Bellingham (2pm?)
You’ll note these are both close to our summer break and summer hols so I suggest you plan now to make sure you’re available for the necessary practices which it looks like we might be restarting around 27th August (or maybe 20th?) TBC
Phew so much news - I forgot to welcome George’s pal Barry to the group - hope you enjoyed last night Barry - see you next week!! Nor did I mention that Dave E’s naked knees were joined by Mike R’s - what a lovely sight for an October evening well done lads!!!warms the cockles……
Have a good weekend guys - onwards and upwards VoiceMale and remember to be kind to each other .
