. . . our first gig of the term at the Bridge on Monday night.

9/5/2024

A good practice last night ready for our first gig of the term at the Bridge on Monday night.

We focussed on the set list for Monday night and got our 10 songs sounding pretty good. We had to make a slight change to the set list to allow for who was actually going to be available on the night! There was noticeably less use of folders (a clear sign of a well spent summer swotting up!!!) and we spent a fair amount of time improving our stage craft by practicing a tight horse shoe shape on stage and consciously not leaving gaps between us - as a result we look more professional and together😀👍🏼. Our “audience” for the night (Antony, Nick, Paul and Rob) appreciated the improvement to our output.

With 75% of our bass section currently overseas, we were all greatly relieved to hear that Will (will he, won’t he?😂) will be hiring a private jet to get him back in time for Monday night - Mike R and Paul W (and the rest of us) were ecstatic!!!

So we need to be there for 7.30pm at the latest. The Boss has decreed full uniform should be worn - he prefers black only but if you’ve spent a minor fortune on red accessories then feel free to flaunt them!!

The set list is now:
Rolling down the river
John Ball
Only remembered
Working on the new railroad
Shenandoah
Rap her to bank
The song goes on
I can hew
Rio Grande
Water of Tyne

If you fancy doing an individual floor spot bring your instrument 🎸 🥁 🎷 and have a go!!!!

So onwards and upwards gentlemen - have a great weekend warbling in the shower and enjoying the weather🙃🙃🙃. Take care of each other - if you’ve nowt to do on Saturday then for a fiver the Harbottle Show is well worth a visit - good music (Alistair Anderson, Rod Clements and others), massive marrows, leeks and onions 🧅 to see as well as the World Championship of 15 stone Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling 🤼 - hoping for blue skies 🌞.
