. . . a great night of singing and harmony along with some friendly 🥊 🤼‍♀️banter

Mes amis

If you weren’t there you missed a great night of singing and harmony along with some friendly 🥊 🤼‍♀️banter between the (testy) tunes and the (bolshy) baritones🎵🎶😀.

Jon had come fresh from his afternoon gig with Janice at Kirkhale - on the way back he contrived to lose his pitch pipes down the back of his car seat - he then managed to blow fluff in to the tuner he borrowed from David M thereby negating any sound that came out of said contraption!!! Things weren’t going his way so we sang a lot of nice songs to cheer him up. At the end of the evening Janice was waiting for Jon downstairs as they were then travelling straight up to spend the night in Glasgow before continuing onwards today to Colonsay for their latest gig - hard working musicians those two!!!! Have a great gig J&J 🤞👍🏼.

We were all delighted to welcome George back to the fold and just to celebrate we sang his favourite song - Peat Bog Soldiers. I was standing next to him and can confirm he seemed to enjoy the song and sang it with gusto!! Great to have you back George.

Although we had 18 there last night we don’t quite seem to have got over the summer holiday effect yet with many of our missionaries still spread far and wide across Europe, Australia and even as far afield as Norfolk 🇳🇫😃😛! Perhaps we’ll return to closer to a full complement when the nights start to draw in.

So we’ve cracked Fields of Gold and Wild Mountain Thyme - Peat bog sounds great and we made good progress on the lovely harmonies of Time has Made a Change in me.

Especially pleasing was what we did in the last 15 minutes before pub time when, without any prep, we rolled off perfect renditions of old favourites May you never and Roll on that day - John Martin and Rod Clements would have been crying with joy 🤩- as Jon says “perhaps that means we should practice less!” Scoobie doobie doo be doobie doo🎶🎵😀.

Jon promises to introduce a new fun song 🎵 next week - Tom Lehrers “I hold your hand in mine” - my favourite TL song is “I got it from Agnes”! Look 👀 them up and see what you think 🤔.

So mes amis after our short Indian summer it looks as if the weather is now returning to type - but don’t let that stop you having a great weekend and being kind to each other. See you next week🤞.
